A strong social media presence is all but a requirement of organizations dealing with the public. However, while social media may seem quick and easy, successful strategy takes time and effort.


TBG communications staff has written weekly social media posts, targeted month long campaigns, and posted highlighting press releases and new products for six social media accounts operated for NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management and two partner accounts. Staff determine the theme and messaging for each campaign and monitor engagement.


Due to the consistent voice, quality of content, and engagement social media audiences for Twitter and Facebook grew to over 14,000 and 23,000 respectively. NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management has also received over 15 Great Gov Tweets and praise from the Department of Commerce for creativity and innovation.
